Sunday 6 June 2010

Memory returns.

The darkness is unbroken.

Time passes.

Terms and conditions apply.

The tapestry unravels.

Saturday 5 June 2010

Have I remembered everything?

What else is there?

A voice interrupts me.

"We have to leave."

The old woman smiles.

You are one of the most layered,

complex,

interesting,

and uncomfortably brilliant individuals I've had the pleasure of knowing.

Keep pushing those boundaries.

His gaze shifts.

He carries the phone book and magazines into the kitchen.

He chooses a number at random and dials.

The operator says, "That number has been disconnected."

His nausea and irritation grows.

Sunday 30 May 2010

The four remaining airships were the cause of some arguments.

I had never learned to drive.

It was suggested that I might enjoy working behind the scenes.

The guards opened the gate.

My songs were sung that night.

Enter the regime.

Ask them why they have surveillance cameras there.

Accept a typical response such as "Why are you so paranoid, only criminals and terrorists are afraid of cameras."

Photograph the respondent.

Observe reaction.

Wednesday 26 May 2010

My ears pop.

A pool of ink coalesces in the darkest corner of the library.

Water skating insects take full control of the ancestral ships.

They say, "He's erased this segment of the journal."

Do you know how lucky you are to be alive?

Tuesday 25 May 2010

We don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Someone asks "how many of you does it take to screw in a light bulb?"

We shrug.

We pout.

We shake it all about.

Monday 24 May 2010

We speak the old tongue.

We have walked for 5 days.

We wear pink cashmere sweaters.

We are not what you think we are.

We have crumbs in our hair.

Sunday 23 May 2010

Saturday 22 May 2010

We sleep under bridges.

The night has wings.

The angel in the tapestry breathes for us.

The hawk faced man is our hunger and our thirst.

The ant queen inscribes a catalogue of our names.

Friday 21 May 2010

Food order.

Right out gate.

2 left.

Right to bus stop.

Your order number 73.

Thursday 20 May 2010

A hand reaches for a light switch.

The dawn chorus declares itself against interpretation.

A pause.

There is no reflection in the mirror and continuity will not protect us.

The station is empty.

Let me put it this way.

This is getting us nowhere.

Stop trying to monkey with my mind.

It is out of the question.

Take a deep breath and smile.

Sunday 16 May 2010

"The untold story behind the legend" is waiting at the bus stop.

A helicopter hovers over us.

The cupboard is almost bare.

We argue.

It begins to rain.

Saturday 15 May 2010

One of my earliest memories is rescuing greenflies from spider webs on our garden gate and allowing them to recuperate inside the large empty cardboard packaging that my mum's catalogue clothing arrived in.

I suppose the worst thing anyone has said to me is "I don't love you" or "I don't fancy you".

If I could edit my past I'd want to erase all the time and effort that I put into continuing to chase after those people who just weren't that into me.

If my mum were still alive I'd want to apologise for all the times I never made any real effort on her birthdays; and if my dad were still alive I'd want to apologise for not taking time to really get to know him (though I WAS only a child when he died).

If I could travel back in time I'd want to experience up close and first hand the radical politics of the early 1970s.

Friday 14 May 2010

Nobody is waiting at the bus stop.

The shadow of a bird crosses to the other side.

The trees flicker.

The sun shines bright.

"The untold story behind the legend" passes by.

Thursday 13 May 2010

Assume that whoever we're conversing with is intelligent.

As often as possible make an effort to see the everyday world with new eyes.

Try to think of arguments, debates and discussions as being collaborative, rather than combative.

There is no such thing as them and us; try to minimise reliance on the word "they", especially when referencing some nebulous stereotypical "enemy".

Love is the Law and from this one Law all else falls into place.

Wednesday 12 May 2010

The door is open.

We are waiting.

Don't forget your keys.

Remember to breathe.

I love you.
